New Digital Facsimile of Christmas Prayer Book from Neukloster Buxtehude

Archives and Rare Books Library, University of Cincinnati, Ms. 2, fol. 42v-43r

I am delighted to announce that the Archives and Rare Books Library at the University of Cincinnati has recently digitized a manuscript originating from Neukloster Buxtehude: a Latin and Low German Christmas prayer book (Ms. 02).

This development is of great significance for the research on Neukloster Buxtehude. The manuscript forms part of the rich legacy of the Benedictine convent and its intellectual culture. Through digitization, it is now preserved for the future and, at the same time, accessible to scholars worldwide.

For me, this represents an important step forward: it allows for a closer examination of Neukloster’s manuscript tradition and offers new perspectives on the cultural and historical role of the convent within Northern Germany and beyond. I look forward to exploring this material further and to sharing insights that emerge from this work.
